Tuesday, March 24
The Mayor and Aldermen have decided to immediately switch off paid parking. This measure has been taken to prevent the coronavirus from possibly being spread via the parking machines.
Many people use these every day. This measure applies to all municipal parking machines in the municipality of Nijkerk, which does not include the Oosterpoort parking garage. It is not known yet how long the measure will take. When the parking machines are put back into use, the municipality will communicate about this.
Services changed from March 25, only emergencies possible
As of March 25, limited services from the municipality of Nijkerk will take place in the town hall on Kolkstraat. Residents can only come by appointment for emergencies from 09:00 to 12:30. This includes registering births and deaths and applying for and collecting ID cards and driving licenses. Both can only be applied for if they expire within a month.
Due to the measures related to the corona pandemic, the municipality is only asking people to make an appointment if it is really necessary. An appointment can be made by calling 14 033.
Appointments are therefore possible for:
Many products and services can be arranged digitally via the municipal website. The municipality asks everyone to make use of this option, if it is not really necessary to come to the town hall.
From June 1, catering entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to temporarily expand their terrace space. The entrepreneurs of Plein, Kolkstraat and Molenplein have jointly drawn up a plan for this, within the frameworks indicated by the municipality of Nijkerk. For the entrepreneurs in Hoevelaken, the possibilities are examined per location.
In recent weeks, many measures have been taken to control the corona virus as well as possible. At the moment, some measures are being relaxed step by step. One of the relaxations concerns the reopening of the catering industry as of 1 June. Guests are welcome again both indoors and outdoors, under strict conditions. The basic principle is that everyone should sit at a table and keep 1.5 meters apart (except people from the same household). The 1.5 meters distance means that considerably fewer guests can sit on the existing terraces. To give the entrepreneurs the opportunity to place the tables in such a way that the 1.5 meters distance is guaranteed, they are given more space.
Space for emergency services
The basic condition for all modifications is that there is enough space for the emergency services. There will also be sufficient space for loading and unloading, and the existing routes for (bicycle) traffic will remain free.
Mayor Renkema: “We are pleased that we can offer the entrepreneurs the extra space and that we have achieved this together. It is very important that safety and access for the emergency services is guaranteed. If everyone complies with the regulations, we can enjoy the beautiful weather on a terrace from 1 June. ”
Expansion of terrace space
Alderman Broekman: “By offering extra space, we try to help the catering industry as much as possible to start up again and to offer their customers a good and safe place. That is why we immediately entered into the conversation when it became clear that there were more opportunities for the catering industry. We see a lot of creativity and resilience. Good solutions have been devised together so that they can still get started within all the regulations. ”
The entrepreneurs on the Plein are allowed to place the existing terrace up to 8 meters as standard. From that point on, space is kept free for passers-by, emergency services, etc. In addition, the catering industry may use extra space in the middle of the Plein. For the entrepreneurs on the Molenplein, the entrepreneurs are allowed to extend their terrace towards the square, so that they too can place their tables at 1.5 meters. The terraces on the Kolkstraat will be extended to the front and tables may be placed between the trees. There is always a free space of 5 meters here for the emergency services. There will also be sufficient space for (bicycle) traffic.
Opening hours terrace
The extra space in the middle of the Plein and the extension on the Molenplein and the Kolkstraat will close at midnight. The entrepreneurs will ensure that tables and chairs on the extension cannot be used after closing time. The closing time of the regular terraces (the 4 fixed meters) is unchanged at 01:00. No performances or extra sound are allowed on the “expansion”. For the existing terrace, the currently applicable noise rules remain in force.
The catering entrepreneurs are hosts on the terrace. They are responsible for keeping the terrace and the surrounding area clean, intact and safe. They regulate, among other things, the placing of guests and their possible bicycles. They are also the first point of contact for concerns or problems directly related to the terrace and its use. Of course, the municipal enforcers and supervisors also keep an eye on the locations, as they normally do.
Space is being created for the bicycles of the visitors to the terraces on the Molenplein, the Plein and the Koetsendijk. This is done in various ways, including by placing fences and signs.
As of 1 June, the Plein will become a large terrace. See below how the catering entrepreneurs from Nijkerk consult together!
The Heritage Day Nijkerk committee has decided in consultation with culture alderman Nadya Aboyaakoub-Akkouh that the Heritage Day of September 12 will not take place in our municipality.
Open Monument Day always attracts many visitors in the municipality of Nijkerk. The organization of the Heritage Day is not sure that it can guarantee the safety of the monument owners and all those visitors. This with regard to the corona measures. The organization hopes that this program will still be possible in 2021.
The municipality of Nijkerk opens a corona business desk. Entrepreneurs and self-employed persons can go here for information about the corona virus. They can also apply for a temporary living arrangement here or ask business questions in relation to the corona crisis.
The current circumstances surrounding the corona virus mean a lot to entrepreneurs. That is why the municipality of Nijkerk wants to guide entrepreneurs and self-employed people as well as possible. In addition to information about the measures, the business desk offers various contact options.
Municipal employees will do their best to respond the next working day. Due to the crowds as a result of the corona crisis, it may take a little longer than people are used to.
The corona business desk is a digital counter. Due to the risk of contamination, the public counters of the municipality are closed at least until April 28. We are happy to help entrepreneurs and self-employed persons via email or telephone.
The business desk can be found at: www.nijkerk.eu/ondernemersdeskcorona.

Rotary Nijkerk has decided to postpone the city golf event that was planned for July 4 for a year. “These are strange times at the moment when many companies are forced to adapt their way of working due to the Corona measures. We have no idea how this will develop in the coming weeks or months and that is why we have made a difficult decision,” said Bertil van de Ridder on behalf of the organization. The event has now been scheduled for next year on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
As the measures to be taken in the coming weeks are still unclear, the recruitment of participants has come to a halt. The club realizes that many companies now really have other things on their mind. “We don’t want to burden them with realizing a fun hole now. After all, we all want to remain healthy not only physically, but also in business and we realize that a City Golf may not contribute to this in several ways, ” Bertil continues.
A new date has since been set, which was immediately shared with all hole sponsors. Most companies that signed up for this year have already confirmed their participation in the realization of a hole for next year. With these sponsors, Rotary Nijkerk can organize another great city golf event for next year to raise money for charities that are supported with this. The participants who had already registered have also been notified and the new date has been shared. Rotary Nijkerk also reports that the participants have also been informed and have put the new date in the agenda and have immediately reserved their participation for 10 July 2021.
